Karis' Bio Feild Study

My 5th Visit November 14, 5:00 pm Cloudy  Temperature: 46ºF Length of Day Sunrise: 7:35 AM Sunset: 5:21 PM Outside has been very gloomy and dark today. There was hardly any sun! In my field study location today there quite a few changes. Almost all of the leaves have dropped off the trees. There is hardly any foliage left on the ground what is left is mainly dead. There is also a thick layer of leaves covering the ground. Not only this but in the stream there are a lot of leaves at the bottom and many being pushed around throughout the water. There weren't any bird sounds that I could hear today. It was very quiet and still. The only noises I could hear was the water and a little bit of wind. I also didn't see any squirrels or really any other living creatures. Lots of brown and leaves.       

My 4th  Visit October 30, 6:30 pm Rainy and Windy Temperature: 42ºF Length of Day Sunrise: 8:16 AM Sunset: 6:39 PM There has been a lot of rain lately. It has been non-stop sprinkling for a couple days now non-stop. Today also has been super duper windy. When I went to my plot of land there was a lot of wind and the stream water level was higher than usual and wider than usual. As I looked around I saw less ground cover. Meaning that there were a lot less plants on the ground and there were a lot more leaves. The fact that there were more leaves on the ground means that there were less leaves on the trees and more of the leaves had dropped and changed colors. There also were more leaves in the water. There was some of the green ground cover plants still living as well. There were no water bugs left on the surface of the water anymore. There also were no birds chirping anymore. My 3rd Visit October 15, 2:00 pm Rainy  Temperature: 53ºF Length of Day Sunrise: 7:58 AM Sunset: 7:01 PM Today and last night have been super rainy. Last night a storm came through. It also has cooled off quite a bit this week. There were lots of different noises at my plot today. I could hear the wind in the trees because it was very gusty. I also could hear the sound of rain on both the trees and on the water. Also I heard the noise of rushing water which I haven't heard very much in the past because usually the water is moving fast enough. Today the water was very deep and was moving very very fast. I also saw that the amount of water bugs decreased today and there were hardly any bugs jumping on the surface of the water. I did see a centipede on the bank of the water. My second Visit September 18, 5:00 pm Partly Cloudy Temperature: 68ºF Length of Day: Sunrise: 7:38 AM Sunset 7:30 PM Today was a really nice day in my plot. It was a super comfortable temperature! It is also super relaxing to be there in nature in the quiet. Again I heard lots of birds being in the woods. I also heard and saw a squirrel jumping through the trees. The squirrel made a lot of noise as it moved around. Once again this time there were still a ton of bugs jumping around all over the surface of the water. I think that there were even more than last time. There also were some deer tracks once again. I did notice that the water was way wider than it was last time. It also was much deeper! This did cause there to be hardly any water flow. The place where I was testing water speed didn't work and the ball didn't make it 5 ft. Intro Video of My Plot My First Visit September 6, 7:00 pm Partly Cloudy Temperature: 63 ºF Length of day: 13 hours Sunrise: 7:15 am Sunset: 8:10 pm  I had an amazing time seeing and visiting my field study plot for the first time. It was very interesting to see and observe different things that were going on while I was there. I heard the wind blowing in the trees. I also heard many different kinds of birds chirping back and forth. In a quiet moment when the wind was still you could hear the distant sound of cars passing by. Also in the quiet moments you could hear different cracks and creaks of wood. I saw a ton of different water bugs jumping around on the surface creating lots of ripples on the stream. There also were a bunch of deer tracks all along the bank of the stream, which was super cool to see!
